RUDDER BEARINGS TYPE 2 -TYPE 3

Generaly combined together, type 2 as upper bearing and type 3 lower bearing, offer the best radial and vertical working load for stainless steel rudder stock

Type 2

Flanged bearing is suitable as upper bearing positioning.

Type2 works in 3 dimension. We call it multifunction as it acts first self aligning the rudder stock with its knuckle and it vertically tunes the rudder stock. Of course it requires a threaded rudder stock.

From 34mm to 90mm, a lot of blue cruisers around 50-60 foot use this option for safety and relyability.

Type 3

Type 3 is used as bottom bearing with stainless steel needles captured in an ertalyte knuckle. This very strong aluminium bearing is totally watertight with 2 leap seals and 2 quadring seals, it will fit rudder stocK.
JP3 recommand to install type 3 with its composite housing bonded in composite hull.

We also fit aluminium passenger boats with a complete type 2-3 « cartridge » welded to the hull in aluminium housings including T2 and T3.
